The main difference between Twitter Automation and Twitter spamming has to do with saving some time doing what you were already doing and simply harassing people with nonstop marketing tweets they don’t want. The distinction lies in using a service or product that simply helps us augment what we were already doing. A few examples would be:

• Follow new friends
• Post Tweets
• Automatically Follow those who follow you
• Automatically send new followers a direct message

The majority of this stuff is done by people who really don’t care about anybody and they put a bad name on automation.

The first 2 Twitter automation sites to be discussed are Ping.fm and Hootsuite.com:

Ping.fm is an excellent resource for saving time. Ping.fm is easy to follow and easy to set up. Simply go through the set up process and one can connect all of one’s social media networking sites together and with a click of a button send out a status update or tweet to all of them simultaneously.

Essentially, that allows social networks and social media marketers to save some time by automating the distribution of these status updates. Many feel Ping.fm users should create more Twitter automation tools given their skill and some dislike their use of their private URL shortener. They are many other URL shorteners on the market. The most popular of these being bit.ly, which are very beneficial for two main reasons;

The first is that they can take a long blog link and compress into a much smaller link which can fit on a Tweet. The second is that it has some advanced tracking capabilities which allow internet marketers to see how many clicks it gets, when and where they came from. The only real criticism from our point of view to Ping.fm is that this info which they get should be shared to the people who use it and need it the most.

Hootsuite.com is one of the premier Twitter Automation websites available. If you a social networker, Twitter enthusiast or an avid social media marketer then this website is a must. Many people are surprised that this website is free given the amount of material it allows its user to do. I personally would be willing to pay a site to provide for me all the data it does at the click of the mouse. That being said, please don’t charge us Hootsuite we like our free sites.

Hootsuite is designed for Twitter enthusiasts to follow their Twitter accounts in real time. The system is easy to use and easy to set up. Once your account info is in there one can see current tweets, any mention of one’s Twitter name and current direct messages. It does this for every twitter account one has. It also has two other great functions, the first being able to easily tweet, reply or retweet anyone else’s tweet very easily. This tweet or retweet can be sent be one account or all if the user wishes and the ability to stay in real time while conversing on Twitter is pretty amazing. The last thing that really stands out for social media marketers is the ability to set up accounts for keywords. These accounts track any mention of a user, area or keyword so one can track that keyword location or market. It is set up to easy follow people with similar interests or retweets like minded info easily.

There are a few more bells and whistles on the site so do yourself a favor and get an account and see for yourself. The only possible criticism could be the fact that Twitter in their user agreement say they can terminate your account for sending the same tweet of multiple accounts and Hootsuite allows user to easily do this. The funny thing is that everyone does it so for Twitter to actually start disabling their user accounts for something that minor it would really be a shame. Either way be careful with that and we are in no way endorsing that.

The ability to automate simple tasks has caused some of the largest industrial revolutions in business. From the printing press, to automakers and the textile industry, automation was critical to getting products out faster, better and most importantly cheaper.

One of the fastest areas on growth for Internet marketing is in the area of automation. Just like with these other mega industries, the Internet marketing world is searching for ways to do Internet marketing faster, better and most importantly, cheaper.

Another option although never as effective as a real person is Automation. There are a few websites out there that are very popular right now. They have a valuable product that works and that saves people a ton of time. Some of them are more complicated that then others. We have actively used the main four and have explained the pros and cons for each.

http://SocialOomph.com used to be called http://TweetLater.com.  This site is designed to help automate your Twitter marketing systems. SocialOomph is working directly with Twitter to give you a wealth of services. Some of these services are free and some are for a fee. At almost $30 a month the site is well worth the fee although the free items are more valuable than the paid features. The biggest difference between it and the others are the statistical data mining abilities. In terms of the automation there are others that are free and far superior. The main two free automating services we recommend are the auto follow: the ability to immediately follow anyone that follows you and the automated direct response messaging system: the ability to send an automated direct response to anyone that follows you.

http://FutureTweet.com This free and easy to use website allows the user to set up automated tweets into the future. One simply sets up an account, schedule a tweet and lets the website do the rest. They have been having some issues with Twitter recently about “providing the recurring updates functionality is in violation of Twitter’s Terms of Service.” Hopefully future Tweets can get this worked out with Twitter so we can use this great Twitter marketing Tool!

http://Synnd.com This website is definitely for the advanced users only. It has some great functionality once set up. It has two main functions, the ability to syndicate retweets by trading services and by bookmarking each other sites to help with back linking and SEO. It runs around $50 a month and is worth it for people who are serious about SEO and back linking.

http://AutomaticallyYou.com This powerhouse of site is poised to grow at a fast pace. For about $40 per month one can use their automated system directly from your own computer to make friends on twitter, MySpace and even the extremely difficult to automate Facebook! In addition, they allow the user to schedule and post status updates and automated tweets. What set this site apart from the rest was the amount of content they have for the user. They have set up many categories of pre-written tweets and status updates that within a few seconds one can add to ones automated system without having to write one’s own tweets. They have categories of motivational tweets, inspirational, current news, funny videos, interesting articles and much more.

It is going to be very interesting to watch what happen in the next 12 months with Twitter, Facebook and MySpace. They all have strict rules about automation yet who are they to tell the consumer what they can and can’t do.

If they are too strict another social media site may come in and take market share. Twitter being much more accepting than the tyrannical Facebook has exploded in market share in the last 12 months. Another issue is that these social media sites allow interns and outsourcing, why can’t someone like me the consumer create or utilize a computer program that acts like a personal assistant.

Morally they are the same from our perspective and mandating rules to Internet marketers have been proven to kill your market share, just ask Microsoft, companies like Apple that listen are patiently waiting.

Wikipedia is a multilingual, collaboratively operated online encyclopedia that can be edited by anyone and that aims to provide free encyclopedic information to its readers.

This site was initially created as a complement to the online encyclopedia, Nupedia but after a laborious year with just twelve articles the creator of the site Jimmy Wales, with the assistance of his Nupedia employee, Larry Sanger decided to use the wiki technology in converting and recreating Nupedia into what is the now famous website, Wikipedia.

Since the wiki technology was adapted for the site there exist a steady flow of articles being contributed to the site. With this technology it means that anyone and everyone can contribute and collaboratively give information in an encyclopedia article on any subject known and available on the site. Anyone can choose to edit the information posted on its articles and because of this wide open nature there are some people who would intentionally add nonsense instead of putting up facts and commit other acts of vandalism on the site that’s why administrators are putting up precautions against this type to protect the project.

Originally the project started out in English on January 15, 2001 with just little articles but after introducing the wiki method on the site it has now covered a wide range of subjects and in approximately 250 different languages with the English Wikipedia containing at about 2.7 million articles as of January 27, 2009.

Wikipedia has become very strong among the search engines due to the very high page rank and that they deal with pure information that is not intended for internet marketing purposes.  They have been a little fearful of  intense marketing and online advertising and have built a very well respected site for useful information.  If you haven’t had a chance to browse it we recommend you spending some time.  It is also a great place to look up obscure internet marketing terms like Web 2.0, and mashables and see the literal definitions to these terms.

Wikipedia wouldn’t practically be what it is now today not for it’s thousands of volunteer scholars, students, teachers, hobbyists and knowledgeable people from around the world, who are usually termed as Wikipedians. This Wikipedians are the ones who generally contribute ideas and articles to site and are basically committed to the mission of the project which is to provide a free online encyclopedia to everyone arount the world. They are hardworking, knowledgeable and also there are self-titled people who spend many hours researching, writing and editing the articles. With this growing numbers of participants each day Wikipedia is at the moment ranked as the 6th most visited website around the world.

This site has become one of the most well known sites, who uses collaborative gathering of information to revolutionize and unite web users around the world. This site can be considered as an active online community together in the cause of educating people and of course to gather all the world’s pertinent facts and document it all in one site. Wikipedia is being operated by it’s parent company Wikimedia, a non-profit charitable organization, who also operates several wiki projects on the web.

In the midst of the development of mobile-phone technology, one feature that affected tech-savvy and busy individuals was the short message service (SMS).  More commonly known as text messaging, it has had an impact on business and the marketing of businesses. One website that adapted the idea of SMS to businesses is Twitter.

Twitter is a social networking and micro-blogging service that connects friends and individuals simply and easily through Tweets.  Tweets in Twitter lingo is a micro-blog that allows users to send and read messages.  On Twitter you can post a message of up to 140 characters in length.

While Tweets are displayed in the user’s profile and delivered to others who have signed up to receive them, senders can actually restrict delivery of updates to a circle of friends. And also users, who are receiving updates, have the option to receive, view and post their updates via SMS, RSS feeds or through some applications specifically made for Tweets like Tweetie, Twinkle, Facebook and Feedalizr.

Twitter was founded by Jack Dorsey, Biz Stone and Evan Williams. It began as a research and development project inside Odeo, a podcasting company in San Francisco. It was launched in July 2006.  Twitter eventually gained popularity. In March 2007 it won the South by Southwest Web Award in the blog category.

In Twitter, users can create their own profile page that will display their latest text updates. Users can become friends with one another or simply be a follower.  Once you become a follower, you can start receiving and reading updates or Tweets from the one whose profile you are following. While Twitter is rapidly gaining popularity, it is also experiencing traffic overload. Privacy and security issues prompted Twitter to introduce an optional PIN that its user can specify for SMS-originating messages. Despite these concerns, Twitter is still one of the leading names in social-networking.

Twitter is one of those rare innovations that may occur in a market place that changes the rules of engagement.  Before Twitter, there were blogs like WordPress and Blogger and social media like Facebook and Myspace.  Now these distinctions are fuzzy.  I find it fascinating that I can’t listen to the radio or watch the news without hearing about Twitter and someone’s Tweet!

It is critical that one understands two things about Youtube.  First, that the world is becoming more and more focused on instantaneous gratification on whatever we desire. On the Internet, that means video, and not just any video, but good video that discusses what we are looking for.  The second critical competent in understanding how powerful a tool Youtube can be is that it is owned by Google.  Whenever anything is owned by Google it becomes even more powerful.  Google does an excellent job integrating software and applications into the mother company.  For Youtube.com it means that one the front page of Google one can search not only for content but also for Videos.  The powerful part for us Savvy Internet Marketers is that we can quickly and inexpensively create a good video tailor made to suit the needs of the person searching for that key word.  In many search terms Google even puts videos in the top ten on the first page without asking specifically for videos. In order to achieve that success by SEO or search engine optimization methods it could take months to get on the first page. Facebook is such an extraordinary tool for entrepreneurs and network marketers that it never ceases to amaze me. I am totally convinced that you can make a six figure income working a few hours a day with a solid opportunity, MLM business that you believe in and Facebook. There are many social media sites out there such as Myspace, LinkedIn, Twitter, and many more, yet Facebook is by far the most valuable. The key to Facebook’s success is that it allows programmers to use its most basic source code to get people to collaborate and create excellent applications and second that it truly is a social networking site. Some of them are all about business and don’t attract the user to hang out and stay for a while. Others are more about dating than networking. Others focus on one primary thing like pictures or movies etc… Facebook has the right combination of everything you need to meet people, create relationships and always have a warm market.

On last night’s training call we showed the basic daily tasks that I would encourage anybody who wants to learn about this to do. With a few of the active listening Internet techniques we struck up powerful conversations with them that should bear some fruit in the future. 1.) Be positive, the world is full of negative people and people are attracted to positive people. Fun is always more attractive.

2.) Make sure to repeat the question in the answer and add features and benefits. Don’t forget to add a feature and or benefit!!!

Example: Where do you live? I live in Sunny Florida where I can hang out on the beach and enjoy the ocean…How about you?

3.) Always finish the message with a question!!@!!!!!!@@@!!!

This is so big that if you miss this you will not be able to do this and my guess is that network marketing is not for you. Remember that the goal is to build relationships. People don’t care how much you know until they know you care. If you end with a statement the conversation is over and I know you don’t care about me or getting to know me….

4.) Last but not least don’t go for the jugular! By that I mean when you strike up a conversation and the person is what you are looking for don’t vomit on them with information about you opportunity. Give them a small taste and continue the conversation until they start asking questions. Even then don’t give too much. Just enough to get them to keep asking questions.
